Paths lead directly from our property, and cater for all fitness levels.

Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC)

There are numerous, short and scenic hikes suitable for all fitness levels in the Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC). A hiking/MTBmap is available for purchase at a number of the local businesses including our humble establishment, Gypsy Guest House. To truly experience Clarens’ charm pack a picnic lunch and head out to the Kloof dam. Only a 10 minute walk and well worth it. The perfect place to swim and cool off in summer.

Golden Gate National Park

For more challenging hiking trails head out to Golden Gate for anumber of hiking options. A Map of the routes are available at the parks reception office opposite Glen Reenen Campsite.

Climbing Mount Horeb - For a more serious climb talk to your host, Henry to organise a local to guide to show you to the top of this Clarens landmark. Where you can enjoy a full 360 degree view of the area.

Rock Art

After all those activities you will certainly have worked up an appetite. There are a number of wonderful restaurants and Pubs to choose from. The local recommendations include
Gostos (Portugeuse cuisine), Vitos (Italian), Friends for some epic Burgers! Mozaic is the best choice for excellent wood fired pizza. Clementine’s is more of a fine dining establishment. For amazing coffee, Highland Coffee is a must. They freshly roast the finest coffee beans and certainly know the art of brewing the perfect cup. Then of course if you are looking for the perfect drinking hole, the Grouse n Claret is a local favourite and I’m sure you already heard of the famous Clarens Brewery.
